G.O.A.T. Festival Update
It’s been a while since I posted a proper festival update on G.O.A.T. After our world premiere in competition at Brooklyn Film Festival and European premiere in the Oscar® Qualifying International Competition at Odense International Film Festival, the film has continued to travel quite a bit.
Since then, G.O.A.T. has screened at Independent Film Festival Boston, Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille, Euregion Shorts Competition and ShortCutz Amsterdam. Most recently, the film travelled to Italy for La Guarimba International Film Festival, where it screened in the international competition.
Along the way, we won Best Foreign Language Short Film at Big Fridge International Film Festival in London, G.O.A.T. was shortlisted for Best Short Fiction at the DDG Awards, and at the ShortCutz Annual Awards we received nominations for Best Screenplay and Best Actress for Samya Ghilane.
The journey has also gone beyond the traditional festival circuit. As part of Short Film Breaks 2026, G.O.A.T. is being screened in libraries and communities around the world throughout the year.
Most importantly, I’m grateful that this story about childbirth trauma continues to reach audiences internationally. The goal remains to help open up conversations around these experiences, break the taboo surrounding them, and reinforce that every story deserves to be heard, no matter how big or small. It’s been really special to see the film connect with audiences in so many different places.
